Not dead yet…

It’s been far too long since my last update, and I apologize. Unfortunately no one seems to be watching this space except for the occasional googler in search of something that’s not here, so I’m not getting any pitchforks to the butt to post something.

I had attempted to tackle a real weak area of mine: Girls. I really hate how I draw girls’ faces sometimes, and often I just avoid the subject outright… It’s an unforgiving subject matter – deviate but a little, and wham. UGGO. Or worse yet, it looks like Greg Land. For those of you that don’t know him, he’s down there with Liefeld; often tracing right off of celebrity photos, or worse yet, porno. So his art features what should be a face of pain is really a face of… well, you get the idea.

So there was a couple attempts and despite trying to push past them and not looking too hard at them…. I couldn’t post them once I stood back and looked. I really do need to crack this egg as I have a number of painting ideas that involve girl faces in them, and I want to do ’em justice. I’m going to have to do some re-reading of some of my artbooks, and god-forbid, draw from some of them. I really hate the idea of sketching from a book, as it’s only a small step from tracing, but well, a lot of the great artists say that’s how they learn. Well I just have to suck it up, eh?

Expect some art shortly (likely non-female, obviously.)

  1. Hey Chunks, I just wanted to let you know that I pay attention via RSS feed. Sorry I haven’t commented before, but I am watching. 🙂

By the way, that painting turned out very nice.

    • Heh, cool! I wonder if there’s a way I can tell how many people have me on their RSS feed, though? Or do those still track as hits…?

      • I have no idea, haha. Presumably my feed reader only pays attention to the feed page itself. I have no way of knowing if a tracker counts those… I guess it wouldn’t? I don’t know.

  2. Hey, you, get postin’ or you’ll be on the business end of Ol’ Painless, my pitchfork!
Seriously though, I have been watching, like that watching dude who watches things in Marvel. I think he’s called Tutu the Looker?
